Noah Goldstein, MD - Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
Welcome! I am a board-certified psychiatrist and psychotherapist in private practice in Boulder, Colorado. I specialize in insight-oriented therapy and combined treatments involving both medication and therapy.
I often work with individuals seeking to address issues involving attachment, dependency, avoidance, intimacy, self-esteem/self-worth, alienation, identity, trauma, maladaptive personality traits, or various forms of childhood abuse and neglect. I have special experience working with graduate students, artists, and early-career professionals in medicine, engineering, law, business, and academia. I enjoy working with members of the LGBTQIA+ communities, and I welcome patients who identify as neurodivergent. I mainly see patients aged 18-65, but I may be able to accommodate adolescent patients or older adults on a case-by-case basis.
As a therapist, I am interested in thinking together about your experiences to enable you to develop deeper insight into yourself and the problems that have led you to seek treatment. My approach is nonjudgmental and nondirective, emphasizing careful listening, empathy, curiosity, patience, and collaboration. It is my hope that by engaging in an immersive exploration of your mental world, you will gradually discover a new sense of self-acceptance, authenticity, mental freedom, and the confidence and creativity to face life's challenges head-on.
My practice is grounded in the belief that medications alone often fail to address the deeper conflicts and traumas that cause suffering. All the same, the right medication can serve as a strong foundation for the personal work necessary for lasting change and growth. As a psychiatrist, I can help you obtain diagnostic clarification and develop a medication plan to address conditions such as mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and a host of other psychiatric conditions. I am mindful of the dangers of polypharmacy and overprescribing, and I am usually glad to help you safely taper or stop unhelpful medications when appropriate.
I am currently accepting new patients for in-person, virtual, or hybrid treatment. I am glad to set up a time to speak by phone for 10-15 minutes to discuss your situation and whether my practice might be a good fit for your needs and goals.
Please note: I am in the process of transitioning my practice from Durham, NC to Boulder, CO. I will continue to offer in person appointments at my Durham office through June 20, 2025. I can meet virtually with patients in both North Carolina and Colorado, and I will begin seeing patients in person in Boulder starting the first week in July 2025.
If you are interested in working together, please review my fee schedule and billing policies and then call or email me to set up an appointment.
